Three people rescued from River Lagan after Belsonic gig

Three festival goers who attended last night’s Gerry Cinnamon gig at Belsonic were rescued from the River Lagan by the Belfast Community Rescue service.
A statement on social media from Community Rescue Service Belfast District said:
“During yesterday evenings concert, 3 persons had to be extracted from the river after climbing over the railings along Ormeau Embankment and slipping into the river.
We want everyone to enjoy the concerts and not to be needing medical treatment that can be easily avoided.”
The team have issued an urgent warning for concert goers NOT to climb over the railings along the Ormeau Embankment.
“There is a steep, extremely slippery riverbank on the opposite side of the railings. Over the next number of weeks our volunteers will be on and around the river Lagan providing river safety cover during the Belsonic concerts at Ormeau Park.”
Before attending concerts and gigs this summer, it’s important to consider the following
1) How are you getting home?
2) Have you got ID with you?
3) Does your phone have full battery?
4) Keep your friends close, choose a spot to meet if you get lost
5) Drink water
