Stormont confirm changes to NI’s hospitality restrictions

The NI Executive met this afternoon to discuss relaxing further Covid-19 restrictions.

Ministers were due to meet last Wednesday, however it was postponed after Deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill contracted the virus.

Hospitality was the main topic on the agenda this afternoon. Stormont Ministers have agreed the following changes...

From Friday 10th September from 5pm:

🏠Indoor gatherings of up to 15 from 4 households will be allowed

🍾Table service requirement lifted

🧍Customers will be permitted to stand while consuming food and drinks in an outdoor setting

🕺Dancing will be permitted at weddings

🎶Restriction on music levels will lift

🕹️Playing darts, pool & gaming machines are permitted

🎟️Requirement for tickets for indoor live events will no longer be required

Face coverings, hand washing, social distancing & strong ventilation will still required.

Hospitality Ulster has called on the Executive to provide a detailed roadmap, with dates for restriction relaxations still imposed on the hospitality industry.

The UK has recorded more than seven million COVID cases since the start of the pandemic.

According to the latest figures from the Department of Health, nine further deaths have been recorded in Northern Ireland as a result of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. The total number of deaths, now stands at 2,417.

There have also been 1,764 new positive cases of the virus recorded in the same period. Currently, 407 are being treated in hospitals here for Coronavirus, of whom 46 are in intensive care.

The Executive is set to meet on Thursday to discuss further easing of restrictions.
