11 days since we last brought you the story of the poor seal spotted on the shores of Belfast Lough with a can stuck on its lip, has finally got a happy ending.

It was first spotted back on October 6th at the mouth of the Connswater River, along Airport Road and Queen's lsland.

Public concern grew as time went on, that the seal was struggling to feed and catch fish with it's mouth trapped.

Onlookers alerted lifeboat teams and the Belfast Harbour police. Lagan Search and Rescue and local charity Debbie Doolittle Wildlife Rescue also attempted to help, but the seal managed to avoid capture, dipping beneath the water.

The injured creature resurfaced on Friday afternoon, with the metal container still firmly stuck in its mouth.

Today it's been reported that the seal was found in a storm drain in Scotland, and has since been rescued and the can has been removed! 👏

MOD Police Clyde Marine Unit officers freed this animal in distress and have urged urge people to take extra care in how they dispose of their rubbish near any water way.
