Thousands of GCSE pupils in Northern Ireland will get their results later this morning.

Close to 30 thousand students sat exams before the summer.

The majority of those pupils will be going into their school to get their results rather than get them online or through the post.

Overall, the results from Northern Ireland are expected to show pupils here outperformed their counterparts in England and Wales.

Girls are expected to do better than boys, as has been the trend has been for a number of years.

Changes to the grading system in Great Britain will only affect a small number of students here.

Around 1 thousand people receiving results here are expected to get them in a number format, with 1 being the lowest and 9 being the highest.
