Partial solar eclipse to appear over Northern Ireland this weekend
We've got a two hour window tomorrow morning when the moon will move in front of the sun 🌙
A partial solar eclipse is expected to appear in skies around the world tomorrow morning.
During a partial solar eclipse, the moon moves between the sun and Earth, partially blocking our view of the sun for a short time.
According to the Royal Astronomical Society, the eclipse is expected between 10am and 12pm, by around 11am the Moon will be at its peak coverage of the Sun.
How to watch the solar eclipse safely
It's not safe to look directly at the eclipse, as the Sun could damage your eyes.
When watching a partial or annular solar eclipse directly with your eyes, you must look through safe solar viewing glasses (“eclipse glasses”) or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times.
Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses. A safe way to look at the partial solar eclipse is through something called a pinhole camera, which can easily be made at home.
