Parents of murdered Paul Quinn to meet Garda Commissioner

The parents of a South Armagh man brutally beaten to death in a farm shed in 2007 are today travelling to Dublin to meet with the Garda Commissioner.

It comes as gardai make a fresh push to catch those behind the killing.

Paul Quinn was 21 when he was lured to a shed across the border by a mob of around a dozen men.

Every bone in his body was broken in the savage attack.

His family blame the IRA but Sinn Fein has long denied republican involvement.

Earlier this year gardai announced they were redoubling efforts to bring those involved to justice.

It's understood around 200 exhibits seized in Carrickmacross are being re-examined for traces of DNA.

Today detectives will update Paul's Mum, Breege, and Dad, Stephen, on the status of their investigation.

Breege Quinn said: “I welcome the opportunity to meet with Garda Commissioner Drew Harris to discuss the brutal murder of my beautiful son Paul 14 years ago and to get a direct update on the Garda investigation, especially the status of new information.”

“We have been encouraged in the last few weeks that they are exploring definite lines of enquiry and efforts have redoubled to bring Paul’s killers to justice. Our family will never rest until we get truth and justice for Paul.”
