Over 40 firefighters remain at the scene of Duncrue fire

Over 40 firefighters remain at the scene of what was a “substantial” fire at a North Belfast recycling plant.
The blaze at Duncrue Pass in an industrial estate had been brought under control this morning (Monday).
Eight fire service pumping appliances, one aerial appliance and one support vehicle attended the fire and worked through from around 10pm on Sunday night to tackle it.
Six appliances and support vehicles remained at the scene on Monday morning.
Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) Group Commander, Chris Lally, said there are currently 45 firefighters continuing to deal with the incident.
He told Downtown Radio and Cool Fm that staff are likely to be in attendance for the rest of the day.
He said: “Currently we have over 45 firefighters continuing to deal with what was a substantial fire at a recycling depot at Duncrue Pass Belfast.
“Firefighters were called to the fire at 10.12pm on Sunday the 27 June.
“We currently have six fire appliances, two arial appliances, a high-volume pump, a command support unit in attendance.”
He added: “If we can ask public to continue to avoid the area with windows and doors closed.
“The investigation into the fire is ongoing.”
