Omagh: PSNI confirm attack is 'terrorist-related'
The PSNI say they are treating Wednesday's night's shooting of one of their senior officers as terrorist-related.
Assistant Chief Constable for Crime Department Mark McEwan said: “Following the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell on Wednesday, 22nd February I can confirm that we are now treating it as terrorist-related and our primary line of enquiry is the New IRA."
“Detectives want anyone who was in the area or who witnessed what happened to call 101 quoting reference number 1831 of 22/02/23 or if you would prefer to remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
