Newtownards Olympian Rhys McClenaghan tests out 'anti-sex' cardboard beds in Paris

Irish Olympic gymnast Rhys McClenaghan has gone viral once again on social media, giving folks an insight into the Paris Olympic village.

As a part of France's efforts to make this year's Olympics "more responsible, more sustainable", athletes will sleep on cardboard beds.

The first time they were used in Tokyo, rumours swirled the lightweight beds were designed to deter athletes from having sex - a claim that was quickly debunked by Rhys McClenaghan from Newtownards at the last Olympic games.

As many of the world's top athletes arrive in Paris for the sporting event, McClenaghan shared an insight into his room and the 'anti-sex' beds with a hilarious video with over 250K views on TikTok.

McClenaghan explains in the video: “I’m at the Paris Olympic games and they once again have these cardboard anti-sex beds. When I tested them the last time, they withstood my testing. Maybe I wasn’t rigorous enough, though."

He then attempts a forward roll, somersault and of course the odd gymnast move, before turning to the camera saying confirming the bed “passed the test”.
