NI Secretary to hold crunch power-sharing talks with Stormont party leaders

The Northern Ireland Secretary of State has kept his job in the cabinet and will travel to Belfast later for crunch talks with Stormont party leaders.
Chris Heaton-Harris has warned he'll call another election if power-sharing isn’t back up and running before Friday’s deadline.
Tomorrow (Thurs) Stormont's been recalled for a last-ditch attempt to get the DUP to form an Executive; something the party’s not doing as part of a campaign against the post-Brexit protocol.
DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson has called on new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to “remove the protocol debris”.
He said, “If the new Prime Minister wants to see a fully functioning Stormont, then he will have to deal with the Protocol once and for all and put in place a long-term solution which recognises that progress is only made in Northern Ireland with the support of unionists and nationalists.”
Meanwhile Sinn Fein’s Michelle O’Neill, who was voted to be First Minister back in May, has said, “Sinn Féin is working together with other parties to recall the Assembly, as we work to form an Executive & support people through rising living costs.”
“Now more than ever, we need all parties working together & prioritising supporting people. The denial of democracy must end now.”
