We thought we'd seen it all...31.2°C in Ballywatticock, 31.3°C in Castlederg and now 31.4°C in Armagh!

It's not often locals in Tenerife and Ibiza are wishing they were sunning themselves in Helen's Bay, but with temperatures this high who can blame them.

The new record comes as NI Water is preparing for a hosepipe ban in Northern Ireland.

Speaking to Downtown and Cool FM, Maynard Cousely, water supply senior manager at NI Water, has urged people to use their water wisely or risk losing pressure or supply.

“Northern Ireland Water has maximised the volume of water we can produce through our treatment plants. We need help from our customers to reduce demand."

"This issue we’re dealing with at the moment isn’t a shortage of raw water but rather a high demand to treat it quickly enough and treat it through our distribution network."

It's fair to say none of us were expecting a summer quite like this!

With 20+ degree weather expected to stay for the next few days, here is a list of phrases you'll hear from locals during the warm spell.

"How much for a poke? In my day they were 99p!"

"I don't need sun cream"

"We could do with a bit of a breeze"

"She's parful warm"

"There's a grand stretch in the evenings"

"Anyone for a cuppa tea, it will help cool you down"

"I always burn first, then I tan"

"We may get the turf turned before it breaks"

"You can't please some people; sure you'd be giving out if it was raining"

"We could do with a drop of rain"

"I can't sleep in this weather, I'm glued to the mattress"

"You're after getting a great colour"

"I tell ya, I'm sweating buckets"

"Sure, why would you want to go on holiday when the sun's shining here?"

"It's hotter than the sun out there!"

"You'll be grand, put on a hat!"

"Pints in the sun, you couldn't beat it"

"I hear it's to break at the weekend"

"There's great drying out there!"

"This heat is minus craic "

"Taps aff fellas"
