Simon Byrne's will meet first with Policing Board

The new PSNI Chief Constable Simon Byrne officially starts the role today (Monday).

He will meet with the Policing Board in private later this morning before public engagements later.

Mr Byrne has previously served in Manchester, Cheshire and London.

The 56 year old was appointed after interviews five weeks ago on a five-year contract.

His first high profile task will be the upcoming Twelfth of July celebrations.
