Big coats at the ready, a yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Northern Ireland this weekend, with forecasters warning slippery pavements and travel disruption is likely.

According to The Met Office; "A band of snow is likely to arrive during the early hours of Saturday with snow continuing though the day. 1-4 cm of snow is possible widely with 5-10 cm, perhaps up to 20 cm over high ground. Later snow may turn to freezing rain bringing an additional ice risk. Strong southeasterly winds may lead to drifting and blizzard conditions over hills."

Across Northern Ireland, snow is likely to turn to rain by evening but could initially lead to tricky travel conditions.

A yellow weather warning is in affect from 0400 until 1800 on Saturday covering counties Antrim, Derry~Londonderry, Tyrone, Down, Fermanagh and Armagh.
