Man suffers broken nose in east Belfast assault

A man has had his nose broken during an assault in east Belfast.

He was one of three men and a woman attacked on the Upper Newtownards Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Their injuries are not life threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses:

Detective Inspector McCambridge said: “At approximately 1:10am that morning, police received a report of an assault outside a commercial premises in the area between Earlswood Road and Eastleigh Drive.

"A female who sustained bruising and a cut to her ear did not require hospital treatment.

"A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, and has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

"We are appealing to anyone who was in this area on the Upper Newtownards area around the time of the assault, and witnessed what occurred, to contact detectives at Musgrave Criminal Investigation Branch on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 238 of 29/10/17.

“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers by contacting 0800555111 or through the Crimestoppers website."
