Man left with 'deep cuts after bottle attack' in north Belfast

A man has been left with 'deep cuts to his arms and back' after being attacked with a bottle in north Belfast on Saturday night.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Stephen Gardiner said: “A 36 year old male was assaulted with a bottle and received injuries to his head as well as a number of deep cuts to his arms and back.

"He is being treated in hospital for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw the suspect in the area at the time of the incident.

"He is described as being in his mid-30s, bald and wearing a blue top and grey track bottoms with blue or black stripes down the sides. He left the address around 8.20pm and was seen heading towards the Alexandra Park area.

“Anyone with information should contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1126 of 19/8/17.

“Alternatively, details can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested and is currently being questioned by police.
