A man remains in a critical condition in hospital following a serious assault in Belfast Police have said.

It happened on the Shore Road area of Newtownabbey on Sunday and was reported just after 1.15am.

Three men aged 28, 34 and 36 have been arrested.

Two of the men aged 28, 34 have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

While, a third man, aged 36, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders and withholding information concerning an arrestable offence.

The three men remain in custody at this time.
