Bangor: man arrested after incident in town centre

A man has been detained by police after an incident in the High Street area of Bangor late last night (Sunday).

Cordons remain in place as officers carry out investigative inquiries.

Videos of the incident appeared on social media last night.

MP Alex Easton referred to a "major firearms incident".

"I am greatly relieved that the major firearms incident in Bangor’s High Street has now been safely brought to a conclusion," he said.

"It is a huge relief that no one was harmed, and I commend the PSNI for their swift and professional response

In a statement, the PSNI said "We appreciate the public’s patience and ask that you still continue to avoid the area at this time."
