Police are appealing for information following a report of criminal damage to a car in Londonderry.

A wheel brace was reportedly used to smash the rear window of a silver Volkswagen Golf on Derry’s Duncreggan Road during the early hours of today (Wednesday) at around 1.10am.

The PSNI said a verbal altercation between a man and a woman is reported to have happened just before the damage to the car was caused.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and he remains in custody at this time.

Sergeant Garth Bennett is appealing for witnesses, in particular, anyone who captured the incident on their dash cam to call 101 and quote reference number 103 of 24/08/22.
