A man found dead in Lisburn had been shot, police have confirmed.

Paul Smyth, 50, was found dead in the living room of a house on Coulson Avenue in the city on Friday evening.

On Sunday evening, the PSNI said that Mr Smyth had been shot.

Four people were arrested in Lisburn by detectives investigating the murder on Saturday.

One of them, a 49-year-old man was released unconditionally on Sunday.

The remaining three, a 28-year-old man, a 32-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman remain in custody.

The PSNI also carried out two searches and a number of items were taken away to be examined.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan has issued an appeal for information.

He has urged anyone with information or anyone who may have been in contact with Paul, or has seen Paul last week, particularly on Tuesday or Wednesday, to contact detectives on 101.
