19 people have been arrested and two Gardai injured after a second night of tension in Dublin city centre.

Officers moved in to break up large crowds in Stephen's Green, South William Street and Temple Bar on Saturday night.

In a statemen An Garda Síochána said the vast majority of people socialised 'responsibly' but a 'smaller group was persistently involved in antisocial behaviour and public disorder.'

Officers came under attack from glass bottles and a number of criminal damage incidents were reported including a bin being set on fire on South William Street.

One person, who was not a member of a group partaking in any public disorder incidents, was assaulted and taken to hospital.

Two members of An Garda Síochána were injured and received treatment while one Garda Patrol Vehicle was damaged.
