Knock Station firefighter Kurtis Robinson (31) suffered a heart attack last year and is still in a critical condition in hospital.

The 31-year-old was induced into a coma and went into heart failure on January 11th. On January 13th he was given a few hours to live, however with his wife Natalie and family by his side he is making small positive improvements day by day.

A close friend to the Robinson family have set-up a Just Giving page for the family as they continue to support Kurtis.

A bio on the website reads: “His road to recovery will be long, and if he gets that far, will include open heart surgery to give him an electric heart until he is able to get a heart transplant. In between this he may require a kidney transplant as well. This is a long and complicated road ahead.

“This is a huge burden for his wife Natalie to shoulder, on top of looking after their new son. Natalie has been unable to work in recent weeks, and there will naturally be implications for Kurtis’s income also. Even if we’d like to, we as his friends and colleagues cannot fix Kurtis’s health issues, but what we can do is take away one of the major burdens from his family and assist financially.

“The family have been blown away by the love, kindness and offers of support shown to them thus far. A donation will allow them to focus on spending time with Kurtis and help him through his long recovery.”

The family are in the process of organising a number of fundraising events in the coming months.
