EXCLUSIVE: Parents of Ballymena baby on Kate's 'broody' comments
The parents of baby James Barr have talked exclusively to Downtown Cool FM news about their surprise, after Kate Middleton said their baby had 'made her broody.'
Our Special Correspondent Damien Edgar captured exclusive footage of the Duchess of Cambridge as she cooed over five-month-old James in Ballymena, as part of the royal visit on Thursday.
Kate joked with delighted parents Alan and Wendy Barr that James was "a very sweet boy" and that he was "so diddy", before saying it "makes me very broody."
At this point, Alan then joked that a fourth baby could be on the way for the royal couple, with Kate replying "William might be slightly worried!".
After the exchange, the parents told Downtown Cool FM news they were delighted to have got the chance to speak to Kate.
"She was really down to earth, really pleasant and nice to talk to," said Alan.
When asked whether they were expecting a call to be a godparent if a fourth child was born, Alan laughed "I don't know!".
"It was so surreal to see her," said Wendy.
"She's so lovely, she looked gorgeous as ever and I'm so surprised she stopped and took the time to speak to the child and shake his hand and pass comment.
"It was so lovely to see and it'll be memorable for the child later on in his life."
Wendy didn't think their brief exchange would be putting any undue pressure on William or Kate either.
"Ah no, I'd say she has her hand full already," she said.
"I was just watching her like everyone else, coming along the crowd, shaking hands and it was just nice of her to stop and speak to us as well."
The young mum has had previous brushes with royalty, having met the Queen while just at primary school.
"I met the current Queen and now little James has met the future Queen," she said.
"We're really looking forward to her becoming Queen and we have the pictures now of James seeing her as a baby."
