The total number of deaths in Northern Ireland linked to the virus now stands at 3,269.

According to the statistics agency, 2,204 (67.4%) took place in hospital.

While, 807 (24.7%) happened in care homes, 14 (0.4%) in hospices and 244 (7.5%) at residential addresses or other locations.

The comparative number of deaths reported daily by the Department of Health (DoH) to September 3 2021 was 2,399.

How does NISRA’s Coronavirus figures differ from the Department of Health’s?

NISRA’s data provides a broader picture of the impact of Covid-19 than the death toll reported by Stormont's Department of Health.

The department's statistics focus primarily on hospital deaths and only include people who have tested positive for the virus.

NISRA obtains its data from death certificates on which Covid-19 is recorded as a factor by a medical professional, regardless of where the death took place or whether the patient tested positive.

What are the Department of Health current Covid-19 figures?

Its total number of deaths now stands at 2,438.

Eight new deaths were recorded yesterday (Thursday) by DOH.

A further 1,831 people tested positive from 10,965 individual tests.

While, 472 hospital inpatients currently have Covid, 44 of which are currently in ICU.
