NISRA: Covid-19 deaths fall for sixth consecutive week

The number of weekly deaths involving Coronavirus have fallen for the sixth week in a row.
The total number of deaths in Northern Ireland linked to Covid-19 now stands at 2,845.
A further 22 deaths involving the virus occurred in the week from February 27 - March 5.
According to the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency, 1,837 of the total amount deaths (65.2%) took place in hospital.
While 760 (27.0%) happened in care homes, 14 (0.5%) in hospices and 205 (7.3) at residential addresses or other locations.
How does NISRA’s Coronavirus figures differ from the Department of Health’s?
NISRA data provides a broader picture of the impact of Covid-19 than the death toll reported by Stormont's Department of Health.
The department's statistics focus primarily on hospital deaths and only include people who have tested positive for the virus.
NISRA obtains its data from death certificates on which Covid-19 is recorded as a factor by a medical professional, regardless of where the death took place or whether the patient tested positive.
What are the Department of Health current Covid-19 figures?
Its total number of deaths now stands at 2,096 which is 749 less than NISRA’s.
Yesterday (Thursday) the daily dashboard showed 9 more people died after contracting the virus.
A further 223 people tested positive from 2,115 individual tests.
While, 189 hospital inpatients currently have Covid, 26 of which are currently in ICU.
