Council to light up buildings this October in Fermanagh & Omagh

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on selected dates throughout the month of October.
On Saturday 01 October 2022, both buildings will be illuminated in purple in recognition of International Day of Older Persons and to mark the beginning of Positive Ageing Month.
Both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh will be illuminated in pink on Sunday 02 October 2022 in recognition of Organ Donation Week which aims to build awareness of organ donation and the difference it can make to so many people.
October is Purple Flag Month and in recognition of both Enniskillen and Omagh being awarded the Purple Flag, both buildings will be illuminated in purple on Friday 07 October 2022.
On Saturday 08 October 2022, both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated in red in support of Dyslexia Awareness Month which takes place during October. The aim of Dyslexia Awareness Month is to raise awareness and understanding of Dyslexia and the challenges those living with dyslexia encounter.
In recognition of Developmental Language Disorder Day, both buildings will be illuminated in purple on Friday 14 October 2022. Developmental Language Disorder is a diagnosis given to a person who has difficulty talking and / or understanding language.
On Saturday 15 October 2022, Enniskillen Castle will be illuminated in pink and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated in blue to mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week. The campaign aims to bring together people from the baby loss community and beyond to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
Parenting Week, an annual campaign to highlight the important role parents play in their children’s lives, takes place from 17 to 21 October 2022 and, in recognition of this, both buildings will be illuminated in purple on Monday 17 October 2022.
Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh will be illuminated in red on Tuesday 18 October 2022 in recognition of Anti-Slavery Day in Northern Ireland.
On Wednesday 19 October 2022, both buildings will be illuminated in green in recognition of Recycle Awareness Week. This year the theme is ‘Let’s Get Real’ and the aim is to challenge perceptions and myths around recycling and target contamination to improve recycling behaviours.
Black History Month takes place during October and, in recognition of this, Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh will be illuminated in red on Friday 21 October 2022.
On Tuesday 25 October 2022, Enniskillen Castle will be illuminated in yellow to mark the launch of a new Aware NI Support Group in the Aisling Centre in Enniskillen.
