Child seen wandering Castlewellan in early hours found

A young girl who was captured on CCTV wandering alone on Castlewellan's Main Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning has been found.

The child, believed to be a girl, was seen walking on the footpath on Main Street near the entrance to the forest park at 0455.

Officers viewed CCTV footage and the child did not appear to turn into the park but continued into town.

In the latest statement from the PSNI, Temporary Chief Inspector Adam Corner said: “The young girl has been located safe and well.

"We would like to thank Community Search and Rescue and the public for their help and support in locating this child.”
