Who would have known that 2020 would become the year that face masks would be the hottest accessory to have in your handbag or pocket?

Now, with restrictions easing, shops reopening and outdoor hospitality serving up freshly poured pints again, the use of protective face coverings in public is crucial to keep Stormont’s road map to recovery on track.

We’ve all got a few masks tucked away, some in better shape than others.

But keeping up with the latest safety protocols, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on style.

There’s a revolutionary new product on the market right now, that is going to change the mask game completely.

Former Ulster Rugby legend Dan Tuohy and his company Belfast Mask Co have produced a stylish anti-fog face covering, that has already taken Europe by storm.

We all know the struggle of trying to find the right mask to match your outfit. For those who wear glasses another issue pops up – instant steam! You can’t help it…as soon as you slip one on and take a deep breathe, your lenses steam up.

“Our face masks include a reinforced nose bridge which allows it to sit snuggly over the nose, not allowing hot air to or create that "fogging" of the glasses/sunglasses.”

“We wanted a mask that was both stylish but also incredibly practical because the main objective of course is to give people confidence and safety.”

As the world begins to reopen and adjust to this ‘new normal’ Dan and his team wanted to create a product that would help people transition with restrictions relaxing.

“Our masks are a great alternative to the single use masks that now litter the streets, they’re designed to be treated like an item of clothing. You can simply throw them in the washing machine at 60 ° and you’re good to go.”

“With over 90% air filtration we have tested the mask extensively within independent labs to ensure the safety of those wearing them.”

To help take the guesswork out of shopping online, the team have worked hard to create a variety of sizes and designs. They currently have three sizes available – large, regular and kids (6-12), each fitted with non-adjustable elastic straps, that are comfy around the ear.

With classic colours like navy and black, to the more vibrant mustard and ruby red there is something for everyone with the Belfast Mask Co.

Belfast Mask Co will be taking part in our upcoming Cash for Kids Day sponsored by Ulster Bank, Friday 14th May. A percentage from Friday’s sales will be donated to the local charity.
