The Prime Minister has announced that air travel corridors in and out of the UK will be closed from 4am Monday morning to protect against new strains of coronavirus entering the country.

In a press conference at Downing Street Boris Johnson confirmed the action was agreed on by all the nations and would apply to the whole UK - so Northern Ireland too.

It means the quarantine exemption for arrivals from selected nations is over and no country is on the so-called 'green list' anymore.

It means anyone coming into the UK would have to prove they had a negative Covid test within the last 72 hours.

People arriving would also have to quarantine for 10 days without leaving their home, although they could opt to have a test on day five, which if negative would mean a shorter quarantine.
