Each will compete for the title of National Pub & Bar of the Year 🍻
Last updated 5th Apr 2023
Pubs and bars across the UK are raising a toast ahead of the long Easter weekend, following the unveiling of this year’s National Pub & Bar Awards County Winners.
The annual event names a total of 94 venues as the best in their respective counties, aiming to highlight the positive and inspiring work being carried out across the UK’s hospitality industry.
Six local pubs/bars were recognised here in Northern Ireland…
Co Tyrone -**** Bogans Bar, Omagh
Co Antrim -**** Hearth, Ballyhackamore
Co Derry/Londonderry - Peadar O'Donnell's, Waterloo St
Co Armagh - The Hole in the Wall, Market St
Co Down - The Maghera Inn, Castlewellan
Co Fermanagh - The Taphouse, Enniskillen
“We were overwhelmed by the level and quality of entries this year,” says Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine.
“It just goes to show what magnificent work is going on across the UK hospitality sector.
O'Hana continues: “With outrageous energy costs, recruitment shortages and a punishing taxation system, these businesses are once again facing tough times. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that people support their local pubs and bars. So, ahead of the long Easter weekend, why not check out the finest in your county?”
The grand final awards ceremony will take place in London on 28th June. There, the County Winners will discover which pubs will be taking home a Regional title, as well as which site is to be named the UK’s best, leaving with the overall National Pub & Bar of the Year accolade.
Last year’s esteemed National Pub & Bar of the Year award was won by The Frogmill in Cheltenham.
At the grand final, other awards will be handed out, including the Pub Brand of the Year, Bar Brand of the Year, Pub Chef of the Year and Sustainable Pub & Bar of the Year.
