3 arrested after spate of burglaries in Belfast

Three men aged 29, 30 and 31 have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including burglary and aggravated burglary.

It follows a number of incidents across Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

The first of which happened At around 3am in Dunmurry when a number of men forced their way into a house in Glenfearna Green and threatened two women with a knife and a hammer. They demanded money, but left empty-handed.

Just after 5 a number of males assaulted a teenage boy inside a house on Ardoyne Road and made off with the family car - a blue Suzuki Alto.

An hour later a red Hyundai Accent collided with a police vehicle on Glenmachen Street before making off in the direction of Donegall Road. That car had also been involved in the Ardoyne incident.

The suspects were detained on Navan Green in West Belfast, after reports men were trying to force their way into a house there. The red Hyundai was also recovered.

A police spokesman said they believe the incidents may be linked: "Detectives are investigating a link between all of the incidents and are appealing for anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave on 101. Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
