10 lonely Northern Ireland rescue dogs in desperate need of a new home
Can you offer one of them a forever home?
They say a dog is a man's best friend, and that is certainly true of pet lovers here. An estimated 105,000 dogs were registered with local councils in Northern Ireland during 2018.
Whilst the vast majority of these dogs are much-loved members of families, it is a sobering fact that hundreds of dogs find themselves in dog pounds and rescue centres each year.
Staff at animal shelters are calling on local dog lovers to consider opening their homes and hearts to a rescue hound.
If you’re thinking of adding a new pet to your family, consider the animals desperately in need at your local animal shelter first - some have been waiting years for a new home
From Bischon Frises to German Shepherds and little Jack Russells, these adorable pooches are waiting to be re-homed with their perfect owner.
Do you have what it takes to give these dogs everything they could possibly desire?

How can you adopt a dog if you live in Northern Ireland?
The first thing to do is to visit your local shelter. They are dotted around Northern Ireland and a simple Google search of your area will help you find your closest one.
Once you've visited a shelter and found a dog, you can speak a member of staff about the adoption process.
Remember adopting a pet is a long-term commitment as most dogs live to between 10 and 15 years. They will need attention, routine veterinary treatments, training, grooming and daily care.
