This week, Taylor Swift’s new album Reputation opened on the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with incredible ease, given that it sold more copies in just a few days than any other title this year. The set, her sixth in total and her fifth to make it to the top of the all-genre ranking, kicked off with 1.238 million equivalent copies shifted, and that’s one of the largest first frames in history.

Just over 1.2 million of those 1.238 million copies were actual sales, but she did collect a few equivalent copies thanks to people across the country snapping up only a few songs from the record on platforms like iTunes and Amazon or by streaming the four songs she uploaded to platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. Sure, those few thousand units didn’t make or break her chances of getting to No. 1, but she moved more “albums” thanks to just four songs on streaming than most artists can manage with a brand new album including sales and streams.
