Dermot Kennedy adds EXTRA date to Ormeau Park gig

Following his largest ever SOLD OUT Belfast show to date at Belsonic in Ormeau Park, Dermot Kennedy is pleased announce a second headline show on Saturday 18th September 2021.

Sharing the news on social media, Dermot posted: "It makes me so so happy to announce we've added a NEW DATE at Ormeau Park on 18th September 2021, and we've rescheduled the original sold out show to 19th September."

Dermot Kennedy is one of Ireland’s biggest success stories, his debut 12-track album ‘Without Fear’ spent 28 non – consecutive weeks at number 1 in the Irish Charts, making it the second biggest selling debut album ever in Ireland, has sold over 1 million copies worldwide and he is now a platinum selling artist in the UK, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Ireland, Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria and many more.

Undeniably, Kennedy is on the way to becoming one of the greats himself. Thanks to the success of songs like ‘Lost’, ‘Outnumbered’, the career-defining ‘Power Over Me,’ and latest single with Meduza ‘Paradise’, Dermot's music has achieved over 1 billion global streams date. He has performed on TV shows across the globe such as, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, The Graham Norton Show and Jonathan Ross and has been Brit Award nominated for ‘Best International Male Artist’.

Dermot Kennedy's rise to fame...

After learning to play the guitar at the age of 10, he began writing songs at 14-years-old, but he's said he didn't begin to take it seriously until he was 17. Dermot has praised his parents for their support of his initial steps into music, and said that his dad used to often drive him into Dublin to perform at open mic nights, and he studied classical music at university for three years.

He then busked for many years around Dublin, and won first place at The South County Song contest which is attended by music industry workers. He once performed with Irish singer Glen Hansard on stage, and after being spotlighted on Spotify Discover Weekly when it was launched in 2016. He was also in a band Shadows and Dust at that time.

He took to the stage at many dates throughout the US, Australia and Europe, performing at Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2017, as well as Lollapalooza and South by Southwest Festival in 2018 and Coachella in 2019.
