Get ready for a fresh, action-packed adventure like no other, as the MAC brings the winter season to life with a show that invites both new and returning visitors to make the arts part of their family’s festive traditions.

The Adventures of Red Riding Hood promises a unique twist on the classic fairytale that families are no sure to love.

This year, join the feisty Red Riding Hood as she embarks on her journey through a fairytale planet, packed with unexpected but well known characters and exciting twists.

Racing to deliver a festive hamper to Granny Hood, Red finds herself in a whirlwind of mistaken identities and familiar faces, including media sensation and spotlight seeking Goldilocks and a Big (or perhaps not-so-bad) Wolf, who does his best to be good. Along the way, she’ll face off against forces of good and evil, and audiences are invited to cheer her on as they discovers just who will don the red hood this Christmas.

With original songs by Garth McConaghie, and captivating on-screen visuals to immerse audiences into a digital experience, The Adventures of Red Riding Hood is a truly immersive experience, bringing a virtual world to life as an integral part of the show, storyline and even the set.

Written and directed by Patrick J. O’Reilly, his fresh take on the story brings it right up to date for today’s digital-savvy children. “In our version of Red Riding Hood, we’ve introduced a world where fairytale characters face modern challenges and personalities that kids can recognise,” said O’Reilly.

“We wanted to give Red a voice that speaks to the digital age, with themes of identity, connection, and courage that kids encounter every day. We’re excited to reimagine this timeless story for families of today, when our fairytale planet breaks through the ‘digital screen’ bringing you an unforgettable theatre experience.”

“The MAC’s Christmas shows have always been a beloved tradition, and this year, we’re inviting families to start new traditions with us. With our flexible Family Saver, you’ll automatically save 10% when booking four or more tickets for Monday through Friday performances — an added reason to gather the family and enjoy this unforgettable holiday experience.

“We’ve got one of the best value Christmas show tickets in town, and MAC tickets will never be cheaper than they are today,” says Melissa Henry, Marketing Manager. “We’d love everyone to make lasting memories with a live theatre experience that’s different, magical, and made for the whole family.”

The Adventures of Red Riding Hood is a must-see event for all ages, with children aged 5 and up expected to get the biggest thrills.
