'Sanctuary' launched for abandoned inflatables

As we say 'goodbye' to the holiday season Hotels.com have revealed that a massive 72% of inflatables are abandoned when their owners return after a week or two in the sun.

Realising how many are left behind the hotel booking website have launched the first ever sanctuary to look after abandoned inflatables. Working with the Hipotels Gran Playa de Palma, holiday-makers are now given the opportunity to adopt and reuse abandoned inflatables 'giving them a new lease of life'.

Exclusively available to guests who book into the Hipotels Gran Playa de Palma through Hotels.com, holiday-makers can make use of the adoption service. Not only does it give these inflatables a second outing, but it also means there's no need to buy or pack one - saving on all important space.

Despite most people leaving behind their inflatables, the research from Hotels.com has revealed that an average of six hours and 52 minutes is spent playing with an inflatable during a typical summer break. This means sun-seekers spend more time on one than hitting the local nightlife or enjoying other water sports!

In recent years Instagram feeds are full of unicorns and flamingo inflatables, but it appears that most would choose the doughnut as their favourite, while the 'classic lilo' is the second favourite choice.

Whilst inflatables are probably the most fun item to be left behind, it is sun cream which tops the list as the most commonly lost or left behind item.
