Chinese New Year was marked on 5th February, while we might not have had fireworks in Northern Ireland to match Shanghai, Hong Kong or Beijing we can still celebrate the Year of the Pig by tucking into some delicious Chinese food.
We’ve gone to reviews website Tripadvisor to see what people have voted the best Chinese restaurants in Belfast, picking out the top 10.
10. Lee Garden Restaurant - 14-18 Botanic Avenue, Belfast
Their chefs are employed directly from Hong Kong and Malaysia with over 10 years experience in a large catering establishment.

9. Same Happy - 40B Donegall Pass, Belfast
Chinese owned this south Belfast restaurant has earned some glowing reviews on TripAdvisor with one customer saying;
"Nearly always the best HK BBQ experience in town. Great food, brilliant service, a must visit venue. Have been going to Same Happy for over 8 years and have been delighted by my overall experience."

This is a great place for take away or dining in. Friendly staff, great menu, their vegetarian options are delicious, tofu with lots of fresh veg.
Be sure to try their salted chilli king prawn, noodles, curry and honey chilli chicken are also a great shout at this establishment according to reviewers.
There’s now even a cocktail list so you can try an expertly made cocktail.

7. House of Zen - St Annes Square, Belfast
Popular among the Instagrammers. Cocooned in the Heart of the Cathedral Quarter is the newest addition to the Zen Restaurant Group, the Cool and Elegant House of Zen. The House of Zen blends a little bit of The Orient into the Traditional cobbled streets and cosy bars of the Cathedral Quarter.
Be sure to try one of their famous gin cocktails, the monkfish is also a very popular dish.

Another great Chinese restaurant located on the Ormeau Road serving the best and finest in Asian Cuisine. The peking duck with pak choi, prawns in chilli honey sauce is a really popular dish at this establishment.

5. Mandarin City - 273-275 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast
The Mandarin City is based in Ballyhackamore and is currently one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in the city.
People come from far and wide to experience what they call “a real taste of China”, so visitors should expect the establishment to get very busy, especially over the weekends. Booking is always essential on Fridays and Saturdays for those who do not want to be disappointed.
The chili salted sea bass starter is tipped as an excellent dish.

If you want a decent Chinese meal in the city you can't go wrong with the popular Red Panda, according to TripAdvisor reviews. It has become famous throughout the province.
Combine your visit with a trip to see a show at the Opera house just across Great Victoria Street.

2. Levels Asian Fusion - 31 University Road, Belfast
Not exclusively a Chinese restaurant but comes in at #2 on the list, Levels Asian Fusion also caters for fans of Japanese cuisine and sushi.
The tepanyaki grill on level three is one of the highlights where their chefs create the most amazing dishes in front of you. Definitely an experience to try at least once.
The pineapple chicken, duck and lamb have all been tipped as delicious favourites.

Rated the #1 Chinese restaurant on TripAdvisor and #10 restaurant overall in the city. The Wong family opened their first Welcome Restaurant in Northern Ireland in 1973. A family business through and through. Charlie Wong, son of the founder, took over recently after working for over 10 years abroad in places such as USA, Bhutan, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong.
The Welcome Restaurant has won a range of awards throughout the years, including Best Belfast Restaurant, Master Chef and Egon Ronay Awards.
Extremely popular, you'll need to pre-book a table at weekends or if catching a show at the nearby Lyric theatre.
