Michael Owen issues apology to The Masked Singer viewers

Fans of bonkers TV show The Masked Singer have been left guessing for weeks now as to which famous face could be behind Doughnuts... And now we finally have answers!

During the latest episode on Saturday night (29th January) former England footballer Michael Owen was unmasked as the elusive character, with many viewers at home being spot on with their guesses.

Taking to Twitter after the unveiling, Michael apologised to viewers for 'burning their ears'. He wrote: 'Finally I can apologise for burning your ears these last few weeks. My kids badgered me into doing @MaskedSingerUK but I have to say it was a great experience and a whole lot of fun.

'Still can’t believe I got past round one!' (sic)

The 42-year-old later thanks fans for their support regarding his appearance on the popular ITV show, where he performed Five's classic 'Everybody Get Up'.

He added on Twitter: 'Absolutely blown away by the reaction to my appearance on @MaskedSingerUK

'Almost certainly the worst singer to ever appear on the show but I gave it my all and didn’t half have a blast!!! Never been so petrified - totally out of my comfort zone. Have a great Sunday everyone.' (sic)

During the same episode, Four Lives actress Jaime Winstone was unmasked as Firework.

Admitting it was a 'no brainer' to take part in the show, Jaime was left in shock that her close friend, judge Rita Ora, didn't guess her identity.

Panda - WINNER

Panda was crowned the third winner of The Masked Singer, with 'Torn' singer Natalie Imbruglia being behind the mask.

Mushroom - SECOND PLACE

Mushroom made it all the way to final, but was pipped to victory by Panda. Turns out it was Welsh singer Charlotte Church behind the mask!

Robobunny - THIRD PLACE

Robobunny had us all guessing throughout the series, but it was Westlife singer Mark Feehily under the mask! The star finished in third place behind Mushroom and Panda.

Rockhopper

RUMBLED: Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams shocked the judges when she revealed herself as Rockhopper during the double elimination on Saturday 5th February!

Chandelier

RUMBLED: Poor Chandelier was rumbled in the first episode of The Masked Singer, but no one guessed that it was soul singer Heather Small - who had voice coach sessions to help hide her incredibly recognisable voice.

Snow Leopard

RUMBLED: Snow Leopard was unveiled as Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford after belting out Shirley Bassey's hit Big Spender.
Judge Jonathan Ross was spot on with his guess, as he admitted he would "recognise that voice anywhere".

Lionfish

RUMBLED: Lionfish was the third celebrity to be unmasked, with Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross correct in their guess - Pop Idol star Will Young!

Bagpipes

RUMBLED: Bagpipes was the fourth celebrity to be unmasked, with Australian Tennis star Pat Cash behind the mask!

Poodle

RUMBLED: After guesses of Gary Barlow, Reverend Richard Coles, Poodle was finally unmasked as Keane frontman Tom Chaplin.

Doughnuts

RUMBLED: Doughnuts was unveiled as former England footballer Michael Owen, who later apologised for 'burning ears' of viewers.

Firework

RUMBLED: Actress Jaime Winstone identified herself as Firework. The actress was in shock to learn her close friend and judge Rita Ora didn't guess her identity.

Traffic Cone

RUMBLED: Welsh singer Aled Jones was unmasked as Traffic Cone during a double eliminated on Saturday 5th February.

The show continues next weekend when the likes of Mushroom, Panda, Robobunny, Rockhopper and Traffic Cone will all perform for a place in the series three final.
