The Chase is a staple in our lives now - with a lot of us working from home, we've become quite familiar with TV quiz shows on during the working day! Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the show is on every week day at 5pm, with quizmasters Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan taking on potential winners.

Show bosses have now confirmed that the show will host a brand new Chaser in the form of Darragh 'The Menace' Ennish, who is a former winner of the show!

Darragh, 40, is an Oxford-based scientist from Dublin, and his Chaser attire is made up of a velvet paisley print jacket and bolo tie. Of joining the show, he said, "I'm so pleased to be the sixth Chaser. It's brilliant to be on such an amazing quiz team, and so much fun working with Bradley Walsh. It's such an exciting opportunity and I can't wait to take on more contestants!"

Bradley added of the new arrival, "Another Chaser? ANOTHER CHASER? That’s another person cleverer than me on The Chase. I must have words with the producers. But I can’t wait to educate Darragh on the important things in life; custard creams, cowboy films and real ale."

Executive Producer Helen Tumbridge said, "We’ve gone from the Fantastic Five to the Sensational Six. We all think Darragh is the perfect addition to our Chase family," while Creative Director, Potato, Martin Scott said, "It’s a pleasure to welcome a past Contestant who is now our new Chaser to the family. I’m sure he’ll take no prisoners!"

This comes after show bosses teased the identity of a brand new chaser last week. Sharing a silhouette on Instagram, they wrote, 'Yesterday the silhouette of the new Chaser made its appearance for the very first time, but could you all be in for a royal surprise? 👤👑 Who do you think is hiding behind it?'

Fans were pretty convinced they knew who it was, as former contestant Darragh appeared on the quiz show back in 2017 winning an impressive £9,000 in the cash builder round, and was rumoured tp have been employed by ITV as the sixth chaser.

Back in May this year, an ITV insider told the Daily Mirror, "Darragh has got what it takes to be a Chaser, he has been put to the test and passed with flying colours.

"They don't bring in new members on The Chase regularly so this is a big deal for the show and Darragh. Viewers will be very interested to see how he gets on. The show is so popular with spin off shows now as well so there is a need to increase the team. No one is leaving, Darragh is very much an addition to the team."

Darragh himself appeared to confirm the rumours, too, with a tweet which read, 'Right I'm being asked the same questions quite a lot about The Chase. 1. I am not telling you when my first appearance is. Keep watching the show and you'll find out 2. I'm not allowed to reveal my nickname 3. Or my outfit 4. No one is leaving, I'm not replacing a chaser.'

Whilst Mark and Shaun have been on the show since series one, former I'm A Celebrity contestant Anne joined in series two, with Paul adding to the team in series four, and Jenny Ryan joining the show in series 13.

Congratulations, Darragh!
