"We'd love to go back to Belfast again"

Since series six of Line of Duty wrapped up in May 2021, fans have been left wanting more from the thrilling show and have been eagerly hoping for news of another series. Although there are plenty of rumours circulating about a seventh season, it hasn't officially been confirmed by show bosses.

HOWEVER, Line of Duty legend Adrian Dunbar, who plays the role of Superintendent Ted Hastings in the series, appeared on Lorraine on Tuesday 15th November, dropping some major hints of a potential new series.

After Lorraine Kelly asked: "Do we think perhaps if we can get you all in the same room, you might do another one?", 64-year-old Adrian seemed to confirm he'd love to reunite with creator Jed Mercurio, and his co-stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure.

He said: "Yes, there is every possibility. We're all keeping our fingers crossed that we'll hear something at some point. We all want to get back together again. We'd love to go back to Belfast again.

“The last time we did it it was in lockdown, so we were all in bubbles. We couldn't get out… everything was shut. So we'd like to get back to Belfast for a bit of fun.”

Adrian previously spoke about the potential of a seventh series back in August this year, weighing in on what he thinks will happen if it's confirmed.

He said: "There’s a big appetite for more Line of Duty.

"It could be three or four episodes, I don’t think there’s going to be six for some reason. It might be two 90 minutes. But it’s all entirely down to Jed what the storyline is going to be. It’s a big ask for him."

Check out some of Ted Hastings' best Line of Duty quotes:

“There’s only one thing I’m interested in and that is catching bent coppers”

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey"

“Frankly son, right now, I couldn’t give a s---”

“You’ve got a bloody nerve”

“Now we’re sucking diesel”

“For years, the security in this department has been watertight… then you come along, suddenly we’re leaking like a colander”

“She’ll be laughing on the other side of her face when I’m finished with her”

“Now we’re cooking with gas!”

“She’s cooked her goose now”

“Houl yer whisht”

“Mother of God”

“I didn’t float up the Lagan in a bubble”

“None of my people would plant evidence. They know I would throw the book at them – followed by the bookshelf”

“No more beating around the bush, we raid Operation Lighthouse”

“We've been round the houses Steve. Round the houses and down the bloody drains"

“Gotcha a big pint of that cats’ p--- that you young fellas seem to like so much”

“Go back to the coal face, the pair of you, unless you’ve got more egg-sucking tips for your Granny”

“Don't talk to me about victimisation, nobody's blacker than me, son"

“You were going like the clappers”

“God give me strength”

“That’s us now”

“I think you should sit down, fella. Or I’ll handcuff you to that desk”

“You look like a couple of kids who’ve been caught robbing an orchard”

Warning: Season six spoilers ahead:

After all the twists, turns and mystery throughout the show, the ending of season six was received with mixed reviews from viewers, and it left some fans wanting more resolution.

Speaking to The Times of London, Adrian addressed the storyline, saying: "It may not have been dramatically satisfying and I can understand why people went, ‘Oh my God!’ But it was a proper way to conclude, to show that actually some of the biggest stuff that happens is very simply an ordinary cop not passing on information because he’s been asked not to and that’s the one thing that can make a heist work.

"Nobody knew what ‘Line of Duty’ was going to be. When you’re writing series two, you might start thinking, ‘This could go to three or four’ — but six?

"And it’s very difficult to introduce a new character, a Mr. Big at the end of the sixth season. You realise that it has to be somebody we’ve already seen — it can’t be somebody from absolutely nowhere. So it was a tricky place to be in."

We are keeping our fingers crossed for another series of Line of Duty! 🙏
