Kym Marsh has paid a touching tribute to her son Archie on the 10th anniversary of his death. The Coronation Street actress posted a photo on Instagram that showed framed prints of Archie's hands and feet, and an urn with an angel on it.
Kym Marsh went into labour at 23 weeks in 2009 and her son Archie, with ex-husband Jamie Lomas, died soon after.
Kym posted a caption alongside the photo that read, ''10 years on and it still hurts like it was yesterday. I wish I could show you a photo of a smiling boy surrounded by gifts. I wish I could show you videos of his party, playing with his mates and eating sweets til his tummy hurt.
'I wish I could show you photos of us all celebrating his birthday with him front and centre blowing out his candles. I wish I could kiss him and say happy birthday son. I wish I could hold his hand again just for one minute. I wish for so many moments I can’t have. I may not be able to hold you Arch, or give you kisses or tell you that mummy loves you more than you will ever know. But you are in my heart always. I will never forget you or stop loving you or stop missing you or stop wishing you were here.
She ended the post, 'Happy birthday my angel. Fly High up there kid. I love you always and forever. Mummy xxxx.'
Kym has been raising awareness of still births since her son died and in 2017 her on screen character Michelle suffered a still birth on Coronation Street at 23 weeks.
After being rushed to hospital by her partner Steve, played by Simon Gregson, doctors told her that her body had gone into early labour and she would have to give birth to the baby boy, even though he wouldn't survive.
Both were praised for their handling of the issue, as Simon has also lost a child through premature birth.
In an interview with ITV's Lorraine, Kym said that filming the scenes were "a real challenge."
She said, "Baby loss is still a taboo subject, it's something that people don't like to discuss. I have been there, I know how it feels to lose a child. Archie is still part of the family. We celebrate his birthday every year, we send balloons up at Christmas and New Year's for him."
The anniversary comes a week after Kym posted a picture of her daughter Emile Cunliffe's baby bump on Instagram, showing her excitement to become a grandmother after her 21-year-old daughter announced her pregnancy in November.
Emile confirmed that the baby was a boy in January.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Kym said, "Being a young mum seems to be a pattern in my family. My mum was 18 when she had my brother, my sister was 18 when she fell pregnant and so was I. I've warned her that it's going to be hard work, but I've also said that there are a lot of positives to being a young mum, too."
