Despite the drama of The Great British Bake Off moving over to Channel 4 and losing Mary Berry, and Mel and Sue on the popular show, the new series has been positively received by viewers.

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS!

That was until last night's episode when Bake Off's youngest contestant, 19-year-old Liam Charles, was evicted from the tent just before the semi-finals.

Liam failed to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in the 'Forgotten Bakes' week, but viewers at home were left screaming at their TV screens over their decision.

The day started well for the student as he impressed with his pizza-inspired Bedfordshire clanger signature, but it was the technical challenge and the showstopper which Liam failed to impress in, with his showstopper dissolving before he could show it off to the judges.

At the end of the show it was obvious Liam was in trouble, but it seems viewers weren't quite ready to lose their favourite baker of the series and took to Twitter to express their feelings...

Taking the news gracefully, Liam said, "Being the youngest baker in the tent had a massive part to play. It meant I got lots of mothering and fathering from the bakers, with some really good advice on baking and how to cope in the tent."

He then added, "'Even though it's a mixed age range, as bakers we all bonded together really well and still socialise. We are now planning a night out at Nando's, as some of the bakers have never been."

After the show ended, Liam took to his own Twitter account to thank fans for their support throughout his time on the show.

He wrote, 'THAT’S A WRAP! Just like to give say a massive thank you to everyone who supported me. remember, it’s just the beginning 😛🍰🙃🍩 #CAKEBOY'. sic

WE WILL MISS YOU LIAM! 😭

In other Great British Bake Off news, Stacey landed the crown of 'Star Baker' despite breaking her oven door during the episode.

Yes, really! 🙈

The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 next Tuesday at 8pm, where the remaining bakers battle it out for a place in the upcoming final.
