Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington has checked into rehab following the end of the series. The 32-year-old, who starred as Jon Snow AKA Aegon Targaryen throughout the show for eight years, reportedly booked himself into a wellness retreat over a month ago.

PageSix has reported that Kit took the ending of the franchise very hard, that he apparently "turned to alcohol" and is now being treated for stress. Although he was present for the Game of Thrones premiere in Belfast on 12th April, the publication have reported that he entered the retreat nearly a month ago.

A representative for Kit, who married his GOT co-star Rose Leslie in 2018, released a statement to Metro.co.uk, "Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues."

A source told PageSix, "The end of GOT really hit Kit hard. He realised, 'This is it — this is the end', it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, what next? Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet."

The publication reported that Kit had checked into Connecticut-based retreat Privé-Swiss, which provides cognitive behavioral therapy, psychological coaching, and meditation.

He also told Esquire that he had taken the ending of the show pretty hard, "My final day of shooting, I felt fine… I felt fine… I felt fine… Then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit.

"Then they called 'Wrap!' and I just broke down. It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again. It wasn’t so much about Jon. It was about not being in this world, not getting to smell those smells, fight those fights, be with these people – the whole package."

This comes after the two-hour Game of Thrones documentary, The Last Watch, aired on Sunday 26th May. During the show, there was a moment where Kit was visibly moved to tears after learning of his character's fate.
