As Game of Thrones fans will be painfully aware, the last ever episode of the fantasy series is due to air next Monday (20th May). With only 80 minutes to go to wrap up a LOT of questions about Game of Thrones, viewers are unsure as to how everything will be satisfactorily resolved.

Ahead of the finale airing this weekend, HBO have released two sneak peek pictures of the episode - and whilst they don't give away very much at all, it's still interesting to see the aftermath of the very controversial episode five, 'The Bells'.

Just to recap, Daenerys Targaryen - who is determined to seat herself on the Iron Throne - burned King's Landing and pretty much all of its residents to the ground after appearing to lose her mind, despite the fact that the Lannister army surrendered.

So fans are now very eager to discover whether Dany will indeed take the throne, or whether she'll be killed off before she can make it.

Daenerys oversees her army

The first photo shows that Dany has indeed taken her place on the Iron Throne, and she can be seen looking over her armies among the rubble and smoke of the utter carnage that she caused in episode five. This definitely appears to add to the 'Mad Queen' theory - that Dany has truly followed in the footsteps of her father, Aerys Targaryen II, AKA The Mad King who swore to burn King's Landing to the ground.

Tyrion Lannister looks livid

Dany's right hand man, Tyrion Lannister, was always going to be left distraught after she refused to follow his advice and relinquish once the bells of surrender had been rung. However, add to this the fact that Dany killed his two siblings - Cersei and Jaime Lannister - and it seems that grief has launched Tyrion into full-on fury. But will he heed the advice of his friend and also Dany-victim, Lord Varys, who urged him to cast Dany aside and support Jon Snow instead - who is, after all, the true heir to the throne, being Aegon Targaryen.

We can't wait to see what happens in the final episode!
