Emmerdale reveal details of their Christmas special

As the countdown to Christmas continues Emmerdale has revealed details of its Christmas special, to be shown on Christmas Day itself.
In a break from its usual storytelling, the soap will focus on Robert and Aaron, or Robron as they are often affectionately known.
Series producer Iain MacLeod said viewers should, "Think Groundhog Day, and A Christmas Carol with a little nod to the film Don’t Look Now thrown in and that’s been our approach to the Christmas Day episode."
Iain went on to explain that it was a bit risky, choosing to concentrate on just two characters, "But we sincerely hope the audience will appreciate we’ve tried to do something a bit different in the same way we devoted an episode to Ashley’s story last Christmas."
According to Emmerdale, in the special episode Robert is terrified by what is happening to him when he is pushed to his limits, because he continually wakes on Christmas morning to a different reality.

"Apart from the scary aspect to Robert’s situation, the episode is also heartfelt and hilarious in parts," explained Iain. "Christmas wouldn’t be the same without a healthy dose of the Dingles and a comedy cameo which we hope will please our viewers. Watch out for the ghost of Christmas Future as you might recognise them!"
Speaking about his retirement his owner Lynda Woodrow said, "We realised Alfie was getting older as his hearing is not what it was and we felt is was kinder to put Alfie into retirement before his job got too hard for him to do it well."
She continued, "But be reassured in real life Alfie is enjoying life in retirement.”
Viewers will be able to see the Emmerdale Christmas special on Christmas Day on ITV.
