Screw is a six-part series coming to Channel 4, created by BAFTA nominated writer Rob Williams (Killing Eve).

The plot has been described as shocking, darkly funny and uncensored. It follows the lives of female prison officers in an all-male prison.

The Derry Girls star is joined by a talented cast - Nina Sosanya (His Dark Materials) Faraz Ayub (Line of Duty)and Ron Donachie from Game of Thrones.

Inspired by the creator’s experience of working and volunteering in prisons, this series brings us a view of incarceration unlike any other.

The show will tackle heavy contemporary stories but undercut it with comedy and heart.

Jamie Lee O'Donnell took to social media last week to shout about her exciting new project.

She wrote: "Buzzing! have a look folks 😊"

Caroline Hollick, Channel 4 Head of Drama, said: "Screw offers the audience an insight in to the challenges and struggles faced behind bars for both prisoners and officers; told with humour, humanity and hope."

"I’m so excited for our brilliant, distinctive cast, led by the superlative Nina Sosanya, and I hope Jamie-Lee O’Donnell’s dramatic new role will her see fast becoming an iconic face of Channel 4."

When will Derry Girls return?

The third series of Derry Girls was confirmed immediately after the second series aired - but there's no word yet on when it'll be released.

Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan has not only confirmed that series 3 is in the pipeline, but that filming is just around the corner. Filming is set to take place this summer in Derry/Londonderry.
