As a riot breaks out in the prison, David retreats to his cell, not wanting any trouble - but things aren't that simple.
With chaos ensuing outside, Abe drags an already bruised and battered Josh into David's cell and, handing him a pair of scissors, tells him to do his worst.
Looking down at the man who drugged and raped him, David is torn about what to do, eventually telling Abe that he wants to deal with Josh alone.
With the help of Abe and another inmate, Tez, David drags Josh to the top of the stairs as the riot rages on in the prison below them.
At home, Shona and the family watch in horror as the riot rages on the news, and soon Shona receives a phone call from David saying that Josh has been stabbed, and she needs to find him a lawyer.
Meanwhile, Max has confided in Shona that he's not too sure about Marion's plans for him, and that he's sorry for his behavior in the past.
Adam calls a meeting between Shona, Marion and Max to resolve their differences, and Max explains that he wants to move home again - to which Marion grudgingly accepts.
Later on when Max is settled back at home, he shows Shona and Sarah a video he's been sent from inside the prison, leaving Shona to doubt David's story.
As the video - which clearly shows Josh stabbed and David standing nearby - begins to circulate widely, Imran decides to visit David in prison.
Imran explains that the video heavily implicates David, but David is adamant that he's innocent and the stabbing had nothing to do with him.
Elsewhere, Daniel leaves Sinead with the palliative care nurse and pops out to buy milk but is stunned to bump into Beth, Kirk and Craig in Christmas jumpers.
Daniel insists Sinead is too weak to celebrate and early Christmas but, having followed him outside, Sinead is delighted by the idea.
A begrudging Daniel agrees to the dinner if it will make Sinead happy, but he's clearly not happy as they sit down to eat.
His overprotectiveness of Sinead causes friction and he eventually storms out mid-meal, leaving Sinead to reassure everyone he'll be back when he's calmed down.
An emotional Daniel is collecting his thoughts in the ginnel when Bethany turns up. Seeing he's upset, Bethany goes to comfort him.
As they embrace, chemistry crackles between them but Ken Barlow spots them and, furious, demands Daniel get home to his dying wife.
Things have gone from bad to worse for Sinead and the next day, after confronting Daniel, it's clear she doesn't have long left to say her goodbyes.
Despite insisting there's nothing between him and Bethany, Daniel is heartbroken that he's hurt Sinead, and later on Adam finds him in a bad way alone in the ginnel.
As a drunk Daniel lays into Adam, he realises that he's wasting his final moments with Sinead and heads home, relieved to find Sinead has forgiven him.
Sinead talks frankly about her death and tells Daniel she needs to be able to trust him to be there for Bertie, and Daniel earnestly, tearfully, tells he she can.
At the Rovers, everyone waits tentatively for news of Sinead and soon Beth takes a call from Daniel to say that she's passed away.
Arriving home from Thailand from her trip, Gail is shocked to find a tearful Bethany being layed into by Tracy and Sally.
Seeing Gail pull up in her taxi, Bethany launches herself at her and, seeing how upset she is, Gail steers Bethany inside to be filled in.
Inside number eight, Bethany confesses she's in love with Daniel and tells Gail how guilty she feels for taking advantage of his vulnerability.
Now let's catch up on what's happening this week, shall we?
David Platt will come face to face with Josh Tucker - the man who drugged and raped him. When a fellow inmate reveals Josh is inside for the same crime, will David Platt open up?
As Gemma Winter's due date approaches, she finds herself caught in a spot of bother on her way to watch the county football match. But when the incriminating photographs go viral, Gemma thinks she might be able to make a quick buck.
With David having a hard time in prison, Shona Ramsay is stumped for what to do when a woman arrives claiming she's Max's grandma, and that she's filing for custody. When Shona and Sarah-Louise Platt find out that Adam Barlow has been giving the woman legal advice, there's hell to pay.
Meanwhile, Sinead Tinker tries to enjoy a family picnic, and Bethany Platt and James Bailey grow closer.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
