Just one day after Faye Brookes AKA Kate Connor announced she was quitting Coronation Street after four years on the soap, another young actress is reportedly leaving too. Apparently, Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead Tinker, has told show bosses that she wants out too.

The 25-year-old, who started on the soap as a love interest for Chesney Brown after the departure of Georgia May Foote AKA Katy Armstrong, has thrown the show into chaos as she's pretty central to their upcoming storylines, and is even up for a soap award.

A source has reportedly said that after Katie's British Soap Award nomination, her departure is a "big loss", and "not what bosses would have wanted to hear." They added that she’s been "central to a number of key storylines this last year or so and will need replacing urgently."

Although Katie hasn't confirmed the news herself, her departure could be disastrous for the show as she's the sixth big star to leave in the last few months.

Faye announced on Twitter that she'd be departing the soap to explore other roles, tweeting, 'Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after 4 fabulous years in Weatherfield it's time for me to explore new opportunities, I've loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I'm off to pastures new. #kana #corrie♥️.' sic

Faye and Sinead join Kym Marsh, who is quitting after 13 years as Michelle Connor; Tristan Gemmill, who plays Michelle's partner Robert Preston; Bhavna Limbachia left her role as Rana Habeeb last month and Connie Hyde, who plays Sally Webster's sister Gina Seddon, will also be leaving.
