Coronation Street viewers were left surprised after Gail Platt's shock exit in last night's (8th July) show.

The fan favourite character, played by Helen Worth, was shown packing her bags, leaving the cobbles and heading off to Bangkok with a one way ticket! And she didn't tell any of her family!

Last night's episode saw Gail putting the blame on herself, after her two sons Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) got put in jail after fighting. Whilst she headed to the prison to visit them, neither of them wanted to see her, with Nick calling her to not come as she simply makes things worse. Ouch.

And even worse, Gail's daughter Sarah (Tina O'Brien) also had an argument with her mother after Gail took her son Harry to the prison with her, and Audrey, Gail's mother, took a swipe at Gail for siding with Nick and David! There's never a dull day on the cobbles is there!

After being attacked from ALL family members, Gail took the rational decision to go to Bangkok and viewers saw her sipping on champagne in the airport lounge, commenting, "This is the first day of the rest of my life". The last fans of the show saw of her, was Gail heading to the boarding gate to fly off into the sunset.
