Jeremy Clarkson to face villagers TONIGHT over anger at Diddly Squat Farm
Some Chipping Norton residents aren't happy
Jeremy Clarkson will face angry Chipping Norton residents tonight in a town meeting to discuss his neighbours' issues with his Diddly Squat farm shop.
The former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter has attracted unwanted attention from locals as fans have flocked to the Oxfordshire village of Chadlington since Clarkson's Farm premiered this summer.
The Amazon Prime Video series sees broadcaster-turned-farm owner Jeremy Clarkson get his hands dirty on his Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton.
A surprise streaming hit, Clarkson's Farm became the platform's highest-ever rated show, with bosses already confirming that a second series is in production.
Posters have now gone up around the village, advertising a Q&A meeting at Chadlington Memorial Hall on Thursday 9th September at 7pm.
The posters read: ‘As there seems to be some debate in the village about what’s going on at Diddly Squat, Jeremy Clarkson will be at the Memorial Hall to explain his plans and to take any questions you may have.
‘Everybody from the area is welcome to attend. Cheese and wine will be provided.’
Locals have been fuming over the last months as thousands of fans from all over the country have descended on the quaint village to visit Clarkson's farm shop.
Jeremy has also angered the local parish council, as he has been applying for planning permission to alter the site, which was once quiet farmland.
The 61-year-old applied for permission to make external alterations to one of his buildings - Chadlington Parish Council said it has no objections but, if the application is approved, ‘this should not confirm a change of use status for this agricultural building’.
At his farm shop, Jeremy serves food and drink and applied for a license to sell alcohol and provide entertainment earlier this year, and requested to convert his lambing shed into a cafe last year.
The parish council added that they remained: 'concerned regarding the effect of the incremental development at this location, both upon the local community, its existing shops and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.'
‘The number of cars currently visiting this site is already substantial, often filling the existing available parking space and overflowing onto the Chipping Norton Road, which is hardly desirable in an AONB and creates a significant risk that accidents will occur.’
Some villagers have shown support for Jeremy's ventures and think Clarkson's Farm has put Chadlington on the map and boosted the local economy.
