Bridgerton actress set to star in TV adaptation of popular Irish novel
Could this be the next Normal People?
Last updated 18th Aug 2021
Following the phenomenal success of Normal People last year, it would seem that a flurry of talented Irish writers are being noticed right now.
Naoise Dolan was hailed 'the next Sally Rooney', now that's quite the compliment!
As luck would have it, work is already underway for the TV adaptation of Naoise's debut novel Exciting Times, with one talented and hugely popular star already linked to the project.
Bridgerton's Daphne Bridgerton AKA Phoebe Dynevor will take on the lead role of Ava in Exciting Times as well as executively producing the series.
The plot follows a millennial Irish expat (Ava) who arrives in Hong Kong to teach English to rich children. She soon becomes entangled in a love triangle with banker Julian and lawyer Edith.
It will be interesting to watch Phoebe tackle the Irish accent, with Daisy Edgar-Jones making light-work out of it in Normal People. No pressure!
It is unknown when the Exciting Times series will hit our screens. Phoebe was recently spotted on a yacht in Croatia, perhaps taking some well-deserved time off before she gets stuck in to work in the autumn.
Filming for the second season of Bridgerton is currently - it took a total of nine months to film the first season, and that was in a pre-pandemic world. We're predicted a late 2022 date for release.
Until then, check out some other TV shows we can't wait for the return of:
